A 22-year-old man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in an attempt to murder case in south-west Delhi, the police said on Saturday.

Aakash Yadav, a resident of Khaira Village in Najafgarh, was arrested over a complaint lodged by Rajesh Pal.

“Aakash and three other men had opened fire on Rajesh over a petty issue when he and his friends were going to a plot situated at the outskirts of the Khaira Village on Friday. The complainant had sustained a bullet injury in the attack,” said Anil Kumar Ojha, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West).

The four men had fled from the spot in a car, which led the police to launch a massive operation to trace and nab them.

“Local and out station hideouts of the accused persons were raided and pressure mounted on them resulted in the arrest of Aakash,” Ojha added.

The police have also recovered the weapon of offence -- a country made pistol -- and the car which was used at the time of crime.

During interrogation, Akash told police that the complainant had levelled false allegation of theft against his brother Vikas.

“Akash nursed a grudge and decided to teach Rajesh a lesson. So, he along with his associates ambushed the complainant and as an act of vengeance they fired with an intent to kill him,” Ojha said.
