The Indian Institute of Management - Bangalore is all set to host its annual cultural festival ‘Unmaad’ between January 26 and 29. The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Escape Yourself— Testing the Boundaries of Your Comfort Zone’. This year ‘Unmaad’ celebrates the real life heroes, those who stood up against all odds and made their voices heard. The four-day cultural extravaganza will have participation from over 400 colleges across 50 cities in India. Also, there will be over 15 corporate events in which 100 plus professionals from the corporate world will participate this year. The flagship rock music competition, ‘B-School of Rock’, which has a prize money worth Rs 70,000, has already received over 100 entries from some of the biggest bands from across the country.

The event will also play host to notable personalities from various fields including Shibani Kashyap, Nicolas Parsons (Founder: JAM & famous radio and BBC television presenter) and kathak maestro Pandit Chitresh Das. The star attraction of the festival will be a live concert by singer Kailash Kher on January 28. The early bird tickets for this concert are already on sale on the official website of ‘Unmaad 2012’. The event will also witness a performance by Benny Prasad, India’s most travelled musician and a workshop by music director Shantanu Moitra, who has scored music for movies like Parineeta and ‘3 Idiots’.

‘E Bizz’

For the past five years, the ‘Economics Forum’ of St Joseph’s College of Arts and Science has been conducting a National level ‘Economics and Entrepreneurship Summit’ titled ‘E Bizz’. This year the fest will be held on January 21 and 22 and will witness the gathering of students from top colleges engaging in intellectually stimulating debates, quizzes, group discussions and other fun-filled activities.

The competitions have been designed to test the awareness of young budding economists on current issues and their knowledge of concepts, in addition to testing their analytical and presentation skills in the areas of Economics and Entrepreneurship. Some of the events that will take place in the span of two days are ‘Young Economists’, ‘Mock G-8’, ‘Business Plan, group discussions, debates and others. The main objective behind this is to create economic awareness and to hone and nurture future economists and statesmen of our country.

‘E Bizz’ will see participation from the students of St Xavier’s College, Mumbai ; St Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad; Symbiosis University, Pune; Madras Christian College; IIT Madras and many other prominent Bangalore-based colleges as well.
