Last Updated 25 January 2012, 17:33 IST

Commissioner of Police Sunil Agarwal and SP Manish Karbikar have been transferred along with several other IPS officers on Wednesday.

Agarwal has been transferred as IGP, State Human Rights Commission in  Bangalore, while Manish Karbikar has been promoted and transferred as DIG, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement Cell, in the capital.

Agarwal is replaced by K L Sudheer, currently IGP, KSRP, while R Dileep, SP of Dharwad has been transferred in place of Karbikar.

Sudheer had earlier served in the city as DCP (crime and traffic) during the tenure of K S Mandegar as police commissioner close to 20 years ago. Dileep had earlier served as additional SP of Mysore.

If gone by the previous developments, the transfer of Agarwal was indeed on cards. He had been transferred ahead of Dasara previous year. However, his sudden shift was opposed by none other than the district in-charge minister S A Ramdas. Following which, decision on his transfer was revoked.

However, rumour mills were doing rounds that the top cop will be shifted during the general transfer.
