Three persons, including two women, have been arrested for drug trafficking in the national capital region. Heroin and smack worth Rs 57 lakh in the international market were recovered from their possession, police said on Tuesday.

Shabo, 27, of Kacchi Khajuri was apprehended from Geeta Colony on Sunday with 270 grams of heroin. On Monday, Halima, 40, of Uttar Pradesh was arrested near Shahdara with 200 grams of contraband and Gulab, 40, of Begumpur was picked up from Sultanpuri with 100 grams of smack.

Sanjay Bhatia, additional deputy commissioner of police (crime), said Shabo was held on a tip-off. During interrogation, Shabo told police that her mother had been selling drugs for many years and she entered the trade after her husband deserted her in 2010.

“She procured the heroin from Wasim of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, who used to visit her house to deliver the drugs,” Bhatia added.

In the second case, Halima was held when she came to deliver heroin near Loni Flyover. She told police that a drug trafficker from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh was using her to supply heroin to his clients in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Gulab was arrested during a routine check and smack worth Rs 10 lakh in international market was recovered from him. “He used to purchase the contraband from Bareilly and supply it to drug addicts in Sultanpuri, Mangolpuri, Aman Vihar, Vijay Vihar and Rohini,” said B S Jaiswal, deputy commissioner of police (outer).
