She dazzled everyone with a brilliant debut in ‘Fashion’ and went on to do films like ‘All The Best’, ‘Jail’ and ‘Help’.

Now she is back with a bang with the Akshaye Khanna-starrer Gali Gali Chor Hai and has many more interesting projects to look forward to.

Be it a witty yet polite response to any journalist crossing the boundary or giggling like a little girl at composer Anu Malik’s rendition of songs, this Marathi mulgi was the cynosure of all eyes in the City recently. The sultry actress spoke to Metrolife on her role in the movie and her love for acting.

Mugdha plays the role of Amita, a paying guest in the film, who stays in the house of a young married couple played by Akshaye Khanna and Shriya Saran respectively. Ask her if her role is different from the ones she has played so far and she is honest.

“Not really. I am playing a glamourous role once again in this film just like my other films. The only difference this time is that this glamourous girl lives in a small town,” she quips.

“But you will be able to connect to the film, enjoy it and go home with a thought-provoking message,” she adds. She considers Rumi Jafry, the director of Gali Gali Chor Hai, as the calmest director ever. “He never gets angry or uses bad words or speaks rudely. Even if we would take hours to get ready, he would be patient,” she gushes.

Unlike her contemporaries, Mugdha has kept a low profile. She is all smiles when asked about this and says, “I have enjoyed my journey in the industry so far. I would just like my work to speak for itself.”

The actress has come to Bangalore many a time. “It’s one of my favourite cities,” she notes. “I have many friends here so I keep coming. Besides, I just love the coffee estates of Karnataka,” she adds.

She has a number of films lined up for release like ‘Will You Marry Me?’ opposite Rajeev Khandelwal, Afra Tafri and Oh God! Saare Hain Fraud. Will we see her in a South Indian film soon?

“I would love to do one,” she exclaims. “I was supposed to do Prakash sir’s Dhoni,” she says referring to Prakash Raj. “Unfortunately, that didn’t work out due to date issues. But thanks to the media, everyone thinks I am still a part of the film’s cast,” she laughs.

Looking dapper in a green blouse and trim white pants, this former supermodel sure does make a pretty picture. Does she have any style tips for the fashion conscious? “I guess you just have to be comfortable and be yourself,” she advises.

Speaking of modelling, does she prefer that over acting? “As of now, I am totally in love with acting because it has so many different faces,” she sums up.
