Six tribal children run away from hostel, spotted in train

Six tribal students of Bhubaneswar-based KIIS residential school were rescued by the GRP at Khetrajpur railway station in Odisha's Sambalpur district today.

Subash Majhi (Class- III), Asis Ekka (Class- V), Sahil Soven (Class-IV), Dayasagar Lakra (Class-IV), Alok Kujur (Class-IV) and Akash Toppo (Class-IV), hailing from Sundergarh district, ran away from their hostel without informing the authority, GRP police in-charge P K Mishra said.

"The children said they ran away from the hostel as they were not allowed to meet their parents," Majhi said adding the GRP had already informed the auhorities of the KIIS and their parents.

"I am a class V student of the school. We left the hostel yesterday afternoon without informing anybody. I wanted to meet my parents. That is why I ran away from the hostel," said Ashis Ekka, one of the rescued children.

Assistant Development Officer of KISS residential school, Bashant Behera said, "we came to know about the incident this morning. We immediately informed the police.”

"We have sent a team to Sambalpur to bring back the children. Even, the parents of the students have also reached to Sambalpur," Mishra said.
