Arabian Prince and Secret Punch took the plaudits, lifting the Stayers Trial Stakes and Sprinters Trial Stakes respectively here on Friday.
JS Dhariwal-schooled Arabian Prince, ridden by Anthony Crastus, held off a late surge from Sun Absolute (Suraj Narredu up) to clinch top spot by a little over a length. In the Sprinters Trial Stakes, Secret Punch, steered by Imran Chisty and trained by F Sirajuddin, upset the applecart by taking the win over favourite Optimus Prime, who finished second.
Arabian Prince and Sun Absolute will now represent Bangalore in the Stayers Cup over the Invitation Cup weekend on March 3-4 while Secret Punch and Optimus Prime will run in the Sprinters Cup.
