Congress’ star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday said that her brother Rahul Gandhi was not after the post of prime minister or party president and rejected the assertion that he was sweating it out in Uttar Pradesh for his “reputation”.

Priyanka, while heaping praises on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, also sprang to the defence of Union Home Minister P Chidamabaram, who was given a clean chit in the 2G spectrum case by a CBI court on Saturday and slammed the opposition for leveling allegations against him.

“The political career of Rahul should not be seen in this way...that he becomes the prime minister or the party president...we in the family do not see it that way,” Priyanka, who has been campaigning in Amethi and Raebareli Lok Sabha constituencies for the past few days, said in an informal chat with reporters at Raebareli.

Priyanka said that Rahul had been working to change the “political agenda” and referred to the elections in the Youth Congress to point out that he had “brought democracy in the party”. “How many parties have internal democracy...it will have an impact on the country’s politics,” she  added.
