Organising any kind of event is not a joke. It needs planning, effort and hard work. Fisheries College has managed to put up a great event ‘Fishco Festival’ since 25 years and it is commendable, said Music Director Guru Kiran after inaugurating the fest at College of Fisheries in Mangalore on Thursday.

“This year is the silver jubilee year of organising FISHCO festival. The students of Fisheries College as part of the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar (KVAFSU) participate in fests mostly in agriculture and veterinary colleges. With an objective to integrate with the local colleges and understand the culture of this region, we introduced this concept 25 years ago,” said Fisheries College Dean Dr Ramachandra Bhat. “The three day fiesta is an excellent opportunity for students to integrate with the rest of the institutions of this region in teams of culture, fine arts and other literary events,” he said.

“Events help to enhance talents and will also be memorable for the rest of the life,” said KVAFSU Board of Management Member Vasudev Byndoor.

As many as 40 colleges are taking part in Fishco this year. The fiesta will have various events such as Clay Modeling, Collage, Rangoli, Dumb Charades, Kannada Lyrics, Mad Ads, Group Dance (Folk), Quiz, Kanndada Extempore, English Expetmpore, Quiz, Classical Dance, Group Dance, Folm Song, Group Song, Western Music, Mime and others. Guru Kiran brought life into the fiesta by performing song ‘Bari holu’ in the programme.
