'V-Day should become Parents' Day'

Rashtrawadi Sena has demanded that the government should declare February 14 as Parents’ Day instead of Valentine's Day.

Over 30 people staged a protest on Jantar Mantar road on Friday shouting slogans such as “Valentine’s Day bandh karo” and “Valentine’s Day hai hai.”

 They were holding placards that read, ‘No Valentine’s Day — Only Mother and Father Puja Day on February 14.’

“We should encourage people to celebrate Parents Day on February 14 to ensure that the youth understands the importance of family. We do not want our children to learn obnoxious names of non-significant days,” said Jay Bhagwan Goel, president of Rashtrawadi Sena.

The members believe that modern-day festivals and celebrations are overshadowing the culture and customs followed by Indians. 

“On the backdrop of Valentine’s Day the youth are engaging in drugs and liquor. They are attending rave parties which is not part of our culture,” added Goel.

The Sena has further ridiculed Saint Valentine by referring to him as a devil and corrupt human being who tried to rape a woman in the jail. He was sent to jail by the  Roman emperor.
