Cyclist killed in accident

A cyclist was killed on the spot when a two-wheeler rider knocked him down on Saturday morning in the Madivala traffic police limits.

The deceased was identified as Palani Swamy, 32, a resident of Bommasandra. A native of Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu, he was selling coconuts in Bangalore.

According to police, the accident occurred on Hosur Road at Roopena Agrahara around 6:30 am. The rider of a speeding two-wheeler, Anthony, lost control over his vehicle and rammed into Palani Swamy’s bicycle from behind.

Swamy was killed on the spot and Anthony, who sustained injuries, is admitted to a hospital.

Three held for theft

Soladevanahalli police arrested three thieves and recovered 2.5 kg jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh.

The arrested are Seena, 19, Manja, 20, and Chinnappaiah, all residents of Nelamangala.
The trio allegedly committed thefts at five houses in Ramamurthynagar and KR Puram areas.
