'All should vow to uphold language, culture'

He was speaking after inaugurating a book release and felicitation function organised by Kodava Takk Eltkarada Kuta, Chenanda Erappa Scholarship Foundation and Virajet Cauvery College on Saturday.

“English may be inevitable in the competitive world. But along with this, we should not forget our mother tongue. Children should learn to live an independent life. They should take an oath for this at a tender age,” he advised.

Kiriyamada B Bollappa, who gave financial assistance for the publication of ‘Minapulu,’ a
Kodava language book, said the readers should support the authors by buying and reading the books.

‘Minapulu’ author Thennira Radha Ponnappa said one should find some leisure time amidst their busy schedule exclusively for reading books.

Cauvery College Principal Ittira K Biddappa was the chief guest.

Chenanda Girish Poonachcha and Chenanda Gowramma Erappa couple distributed a sum of Rs 78,000 as scholarship to meritorious students.

Centenarian Marada D Ayyamma was felicitated on the occasion. Cauvery PU College Principal Shankaranarayan was present.
