Cop thrashes conned youth; SP orders inquiry

A police inspector is in the dock for allegedly thrashing a youth who was just out of hospital after treatment.

Nemiraj, circle police inspector of south police station had allegedly summoned Manjunath to the station on Thursday. Manjunath of Doddakanya had attempted suicide after he was allegedly cheated by Nagalambika, Mahadevappa and Jaware Gowda a KSRTC bus conductor. 

The woman in this case had allegedly claimed to be the niece of a former chief minister. Believing in her words, the youth had paid the two- Mahadevappa and Jawaregowda Rs two lakh for a government job.

The inspector had allegedly summoned the youth for arriving on an understanding and beat the youth during the course of interaction. 

The particular inspector is said to have evinced interest in the case for a constable belonging to the same station being the accused in the case.

The youth who was already weak fainted thus triggering panic among the rank and file in the police station. 

He was rushed to Apollo BGS Hospitals in Kuvempunagar.
 Sources said the condition of youth is stable and is recuperating. Learning about the incident SP R Dileep too visited the hospital. 

The relatives of the youth had descended at the hospital leading to a tense atmosphere for sometime. It is learnt that the SP has ordered in-charge additional SP Anand to probe the incident and submit a report to initiate further action.

Deer pelt seized 

Kuvempunagar police have arrested two from Mandya for possessing deer pelt worth Rs 75,000 at Dattagalli in the city on Thursday.

The two have been identified as Basavaraju son of lateMari Hiregowda of Agasanapura and Suresh son of Huchchappa of Muthathi in Mandya district.
The duo had the deer pelt in their possession when the police swooped on them near KEB junction on ring road near third stage of Dattagalli.

The police team consisted of inspector K N Yashwanthkumar, sub-inspectors P S Krishna Kumar and M Mahadevaiah among others, said a press release from the office of police commissioner.

Suspended?

According to another source, the erring constable Mahadevappa is kept under suspension with an inquiry pending on Friday.
