More than the finances of the event, which was held in South Africa this year due to a clash of dates with general elections here, the BCCI-IMG spat is likely to grab centre stage.

In its working committee meeting, the BCCI had ended its ties with the IMG, which handled the organisation of the cash-awash Twenty20 league. The BCCI said IMG was overcharging for the services rendered by it. Wednesday’s meeting would be attended by, among others, IPL Chairman Lalit Modi and all the office bearers of the Cricket Board that owns the League.

The ongoing feud has also resulted in protest from a number of IPL franchise owners, including Shah Rukh Khan of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani of Mumbai Indians.

Meanwhile, in some quarters, it has been billed as a war between Lalit Modi and Srinivasan who heads the India Cements Group that owns the Chennai Super Kings franchise outfit. Modi is one of the five vice-Presidents of the Board but lost his clout in the RCA election, while Srinivasan has been touted as the likely candidate to take over the BCCI reins when South Zone gets its turn.
