An MBA student was run over by a Tamil Nadu government bus outside her college campus on Hosur Road Sunday night.

The Madivala traffic police said Veenita Kumari Kurleel, 22, a native of New Delhi, was on her way out of the campus of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, riding pillion on the two-wheeler of her classmate, Aman, at 8.45 pm when the incident occurred.

While passing the HP fuel station near Parappana Agrahara, the handle of the bike touched a Tamil Nadu government bus, resulting in the rider losing balance over the vehicle. Veenita fell off the two-wheeler and before she could realise what was happening, she was crushed under the rear wheel of the bus.

The rider escaped with minor injuries and was shifted to St John’s Hospital for treatment.

Veenita’s body was shifted to Victoria Hospital and it was later handed over to her relatives.
The police said Veenita’s father, Vinod Kurleel, is an officer in an insurance company in New Delhi.
