Terming the opposition to set up National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) by a number of non-Congress ruled states as ''unfortunate'', Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday said NCTC will only assist the states to deal with security-related threats.

She said the objections were unfounded.

“Security is everybody's concern and setting up of NCTC is going to enhance security measures across the entire country. It will give the states a helping hand,” said Dikshit, refuting the concerns of several states which consider NCTC an attack on federal structure of the country.

More than 13 states in the country are against setting up the NCTC. The Centre is trying to convine states to accept the idea of the anti-terror group.
