The funeral service of Kiran Joseph, the teenager killed in the car-lorry collision on Tuesday, was held at the St Patrick’s Church here on Thursday.

His friends and family turned up in large numbers for the service. Grieving his son’s death, Kiran’s father said though he was away from the country on business for many years, it was Kiran who provided the emotional strength to his mother. The victim’s cousins and friends recalled that he was always good humoured and would do anything for a laugh.

He would go out of his way to help his friends, they said.Speaking to Deccan Herald, a childhood friend of Kiran said his friend was talented in many areas.

He liked to play guitar and loved music as much as he loved football. He showed interest in all the activities in school and college besides being an intelligent student, he added. Almost a hundred people who turned up at the funeral included his classmates, tuition friends, childhood friends and friends with whom he played football.

His closest of friends, still shaken, chose not to speak. The fact that all of them had turned up at the venue said much about the teenager’s popularity among his friends and peers.
