Colours of talent

The fourth leg of the zonal rounds of Maruti Suzuki ‘Colors of Youth’, a talent hunt competition for engineering and management students, was held recently.

Held at Mother Telka Auditorium, Brunton Road, the colourful show saw the students making it to the final round with eight participating teams from the South Zone that included participants from Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Abhishu Rakshit from Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai emerged as the winner. Yathartha Sharma from IBS University, Hyderabad and Danny Mathew from Christ University Institute of Management, Chennai; Advithi and Ashvithi Shetty from Manipal Institute of Management, Bangalore and Aradhika Tayal from Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai were the others who made it to the finals.

The panel of judges included noted musician Subir Malik of band Parikrama and former Miss World Diana Hayden. “Enjoy yourself while performing. Keep in mind that you have nothing to lose. You are here to gain,” advised Diana to all the participants.
 
The event began with a music performance by Fathima Raj from Christ University Institute of Management, Chennai. He chose to sing Jaane Nahi Denge Tujhe from ‘3 Idiots’. He tried his best to impress the judges with his soulful rendition. Next up was Sreeju Premarajan from IBS, Bangalore, who rendered Tumse Yu Milenge from Ankahee and his performance was appreciated.

It was Abhishu Rakshit’s spellbinding performance that caught the attention of everybody. He played the guitar and performed his own composition called ‘Apathy’. The judges were impressed with the lyrics of the song, which succeeded in touching everyone’s heart.

Even Danny Mathew and Yathartha Sharma enthralled the audience with their amazing performance on the guitar. Post this presentation, there were dance performances. A spectacular dance performance by Advithi and Ashvithi Shetty and the students of IBS, Hyderabad got a huge cheer from the crowd.

Shashank Srivastava, chief general manager (marketing), Maruti Suzuki India said, “This initiative was taken to connect the youth from national B-Schools and professional colleges throughout the country. The event provides a national level platform to students to showcase their skills.” The grand finale will be held in Delhi.
