Disturbed after his second marriage, a 23-year-old Delhi Police constable shot himself outside a businessman’s residence in west Delhi on Thursday night, police said.

Police said the incident was reported at around 10:30 pm from a local businessman’s Mianwali Nagar residence where the deceased, constable Pankaj Kumar, was posted as a personal security officer (PSO), around 10:30 pm.

Police said Pankaj Kumar was ‘disturbed’ ever since he left his first wife and married another woman less than a week ago. He had joined the force in 2009.

“He was posted at the residence of Vikram Arora, who is a witness in a murder case. Pankaj used his own service revolver to kill himself. No suicide note was recovered from his possession,” said a senior police officer.

“On Thursday night Kumar put the gun in his mouth and shot himself at Arora's residence. When Arora’s family members heard the loud bang they rushed outside and saw  him lying in a pool of blood in the security guard quarter,” said V Renganathan additional commissioner of police (west).

Pankaj, who had been posted at Arora’s residence in mid-2011, probably ended life due to personal problems, police said.
