Hegde files papers

Jayaprakash Hegde, the Congress candidate for byelection to the Udupi Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency, filed his nomination papers at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Monday. 

He was accompanied by  AICC General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Madhusudan Mistry, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President G Parameshwara, Union Minister M Veerappa Moily and former Central minister Janardhan Poojary.

K H Muniyappa, the Union Minister of State for Railways, had to wait outside the DC’s office as Deputy Commissioner M T Raju said only five persons could accompany the candidate at the time of filing nomination papers, as per the rule book.
