Ex-serviceman trips on footpath, dies

An ex-serviceman tripped on a footpath near T Dasarahalli and died on Sunday night.

Police said C K Joyappa, 52, a native of Virajpet and resident of Kempegowda Nagar on Tumkur Road, worked for Sriram Security Company. Around 10.45 pm on Sunday, he stepped out of a bar and restaurant in T Dasarahalli and fell down in front it. Joyappa, who was severely injured in the head, was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, police said.

Joyappa was married with two children.

Realtor’s wife found deadA realtor’s wife was found dead at her Chandra Layout residence on Sunday night. Roopa, 24, a resident of Bhairaveshwaranagar, hanged herself to death, said the police who have taken her husband Uday Raj into custody for interrogation.

Raj, a habitual drinker, allegedly quarrelled frequently with Roopa and harassed her to bring money from her parents.

On Sunday, he returned home drunk and picked a fight with her. A dejected Roopa came out of the room where her husband was sleeping, locked it from outside and hanged herself from a ceiling fan in another room. Minutes later, Uday Raj realised his wife was missing. He requested the owner to open the door. The owner peeped through the window and found Roopa hanging from the ceiling fan, police said. The couple have a three-year-old daughter.

Three men rob studentThree unidentified men robbed a student of his valuables when he was returning to his hostel after watching a movie at a theatre in Sampigehalli on Sunday night.

Police said Subbareddy, 28, who stays at Siddarth College Hostel in Coffee Board Layout, was returning to the hostel when the three men, who came in an autorickshaw accosted him near Shiva Temple on Nagawara Service Road. They threatened him at knifepoint and snatched three cell phones, three ATM cards and Rs 3,500 from him and fled.

In another incident in Hulimavu police limits on Sunday night, two youths robbed a homemaker of her gold chain worth Rs 85,000.

Police said the victim Jayashree, a resident of Hanumagiri in Chikkalasandra, was trying to locate her sister’s house along with her daughter in Ramaiah City when the incident occurred. The miscreants, who followed them, snatched Jayashree’s gold chain and fled, police said.

Skull foundThe skull of a man was found in an open space on Huskur-Chikkanagamangala Road in Parappana Agrahara. Police said it had been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for investigation.
