KoPT operations remain normal

The operations at the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) remained normal during the countrywide strike called by central trade unions today.

"There was no interuption in port services and cargo handling in both Kolkata and Haldia docks," KoPT chairman M L Meena told PTI.
 "Attendance in cargo handling operations is 100 per cent hence there was no impact of the bandh on port and cargo operations," Meena said.

Cargo evacuation was also unaffected at both Haldia and Kolkata docks, he said.

He said there were currently 19 vessels anchored in Haldia and Kolkata docks. Of these nine vessels were at the Kolkata docks and six at Haldia.

Officials said seven vessels sailed out and 11 entered Haldia and Kolkata docks during the day.KoPT sources said attendance in the administrative officeswas 66 per cent at Kolkata and 90 per cent in Haldia.
