The petitioner, Saraswathamma and 14 others, had moved the High Court against the acquisition of 15 acres of land. The petitioners had stated that the road which was supposed to come up in the southern part had been diverted to north and their lands have been acquired for commercial exploitation.

Contempt proceedings
The HC, which initiated suo motu proceedings against the Bangalore Urban Zilla Panchayat (ZP) members, has directed the Court Registry to place the matter before the Chief Justice for contempt proceedings.  The HC had directed the ZP not to conduct election for the post of president and vice-president following a petition by G Nagaraj. He had questioned the grant of permission to Bhagya Rajalakshmi Reddy, a candidate, to file nomination. However, the elections were held and Bhagya Rajalakshmi Reddy was elected President. Following this the Court has directed to initiate contempt proceedings against all those concerned.

Plea dismissed
The High Court has dismissed a petition by the Maruti Bhakta Mandali, Vijayanagar challenging the show notice issued by the Muzrai Department for bringing the temple under Muzrai and Endowment Department. The petitioner had stated that the matter had been inquired into and closed on an earlier occasion and alleged that the former minister V Somanna was attempting to reopen it.
