<p>Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi Saturday said he is ready to resign provided his Trinamool Congress party conveys it to him properly.<br /><br /></p>.<p>"I will abide by the party's decision. If I wanted to stay in my chair, I could have. I don't want to be humiliated like this. I have done my bit. Let them convey it to me properly. I will resign in a day or two," Trivedi told CNN-IBN news channel.<br /><br />Trivedi's decision to hike passenger fares in the rail budget angered Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee and she has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking him to sack Trivedi. <br /><br />Talking to reporters later, Trivedi said: “Neither has Mamta-ji asked for my resignation nor has the prime minister asked for my resignation who is the captain of the team.”<br />"And I personally don't understand what is happening. But till the time the matter is absolutely clear, I suggested that I do not want to take any verbal thing because parliament has more sanctity than someone's telephone," he said.<br /><br />“So I have suggested that let Mamta-ji give me a letter so that there is no confusion,” he added. <br /><br />"Prime minister has not even suggested to me at all (to resign) so I must carry on my constitutional duty. I don't want to be seen to be running away from the budget which I have presented," he told reporters. <br /><br />“The whole country has appreciated the budget and parliamentarians cutting across the party line have appreciated the budget,” he said. <br /><br />"I am there, I will carry my duty to the best of my ability and whatever is required for the railways," Trivedi added.</p>
