Last Updated 18 March 2012, 20:01 IST

Congress activists at Robertsonpet staged a symbolic protest on Friday planting saplings on PWD roads left unrepaired by the State government.

“Legislators inspect repair work on just one road, but pretend to have ensured that all other roads too are repaired. Roads in the bus stand area here and Ashoknagar, Swaminathapuram Road and Pritchard Road are all full of potholes. Funds up to Rs 1.25 crore were granted for construction of the bus stand. The money, however, has returned to the State exchequer, unutilised,” alleged Karthik, general secretary of the State Youth Congress.

The protesters threatened to undertake a intensify the agitation if the government failed to repair the roads.
