Student dies in accident

An engineering student was killed in an accident on the Hebbal flyover Monday morning.

Nikhil Narayan, 22, a student of MVIT Engineering College, was a resident of Vidyaranyapura. Sagar Naidu, 25, who was riding pillion, sustained grievous injuries. The accident occurred when the two were riding towards Bhadra Layout.

On the Hebbal flyover, Nikhil lost control of the bike and crashed into the wall of the flyover. Nikhil died on the spot due to serious head injuries.

Hebbal Traffic police have registered a case.

Five held for prostitution

The Women and Narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch recently arrested five persons for indulging in prostitution in the Magadi Road police limits. The police have seized Rs 28,000 in cash and five cellphones.

Acting on a tip-off that a couple were running a prostitution racket in a house at Cholarapalya, officers from the CCB raided the residence and arrested Tyagaraj, 36, and his wife Suma, 32, who were working as pimps.

The police have also arrested two girls and a customer, Siddaramaiah, 53, of Bettanagere, Bidadi. A case has been registered at the Magadi Road police station.

Murder plot foiled

 Siddapura police arrested four persons at Mountain Street, Jayanagar I Block, Sunday afternoon, when they were waiting to attack one of their rivals.
The arrested were identified as Venkatesh, 32, Gururaj, 33, Naga, 38 and Umesh, 28, all residents of Byrasandra, Jayanagar.

All four have criminal backgrounds. Venkatesh and Gururaj have been rowdy-sheeters at Siddapura police station.

The gang was involved in theft, life threats, cheating, murder, attempt to murder and dacoity cases in Siddapura and Tilaknagar police station limits.

Gururaj, Umesh and Venkatesh had recently been released on bail and were conspiring to murder one of their rivals, Rizwan, who was expected to come that way. A few lethal weapons were seized from the gang.
