Now, book Air India tickets through cellphone

Air India has announced the launch of another value addition to its product, allowing customers to book and buy its tickets through mobile phones using the one-time downloadable Ngpay software.

“Ngpay is a service provider for booking Air India domestic seats through mobile phone. The payment can be made using credit/debit card/net-banking facility through mobile phone,” the airline said in a statement on Tuesday.

The facility is expected to help passengers from tier-II and tier-III cities where Internet facility may not be readily accessible and frequent-flying executives who can make on-the-go bookings.

The passenger, it said, only needs to sms ‘ngpay’ to 56767 and download the free Ngpay software from ngpay.com on his GPRS-enabled mobile phone.

The software, which takes up between 65 to 80 kb space depending on the model of the instrument, can also be searched for in all leading app stores like Android marketplace, Blackberry app world, Getjar and Ovi store.

Once downloaded, the customer needs to complete a one-time registration process by providing his/her basic personal details like name, mobile phone number, email address, date of birth and address.
