The baffling aspect of this ‘expose’ is the fact that the dagger was requisitioned by a police circle inspector belonging to the Alappuzha North police station.

The blacksmith told reporters posing as cops that two daggers were made for the police and that one was still not claimed. The blacksmith claimed that the CI, K A Thomas, even handed him a drawing of the dagger for reference. As reported, Kari Satheesh, one of the youths in the gang which attacked Paul in the wee hours of August 22 near Alappuzha, had admitted to stabbing Paul. Inspector General of Police Vinson M Paul had disclosed that it was an `S’ shaped dagger that was used to kill Paul.

The channel claimed on Monday that the circle inspector asked the blacksmith to make the dagger the same day that the IG held the news meet.

When the dagger was recovered from the house of Satheesh later, his grandmother had claimed that the cops had planted it in their house before recovering it. It is also interesting to note that CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan himself held a news meet where he alleged that the ‘S’ shaped dagger was a typical RSS weapon.
The new claims will be a shot in the arm for the ongoing campaign launched by the Opposition UDF and the BJP against the lopsided investigations in the Paul murder case. The actions of the police have been suspect from the beginning.

The parties have been accusing Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and his family of having vested interests in the case and of harbouring goondas and criminals.

Two dreaded criminals Om Prakash and Rajesh who were with Paul when he was killed have been absconding. The duo had a past of having been activists of the CPM’s youth outfit DYFI and are reportedly close to the powers that be.
