70 more fall ill in N'gud

Close on the heels of over 40 people taking ill in the temple town, 70 more have been admitted to hospital after they were diagnosed with diarrhoea.

According to an estimate nearly 150 have taken ill till date and majority of them are in-patients. Remaining were discharged after treatment. Apart from them, 26 people who were seriously ill have been admitted at Epidemic Diseases hospital in Mysore.

According to taluk health officer Nagesh, buttermilk distributed during dodda jatra mahotsava at the temple town may have caused the situation. He has appealed to the people to drink only boiled water and say no to roadside eatables.

MLA V Sreenivas Prasad enquired the health of the people admitted at the government hospital.
