Last Updated 08 September 2009, 17:07 IST

Even though SVS College management had given her freedom to wear dupatta of the uniform as headscarf, Ashmin refused to go to the same college and joined Hira Women’s College at Babbukatte near Thokkottu in the outskirts of the city. Hijab (burkha) is the uniform for Muslim girls in Hira Women’s College.

Ashmin told Deccan Herald that she has decided not to go to SVS College because of the opposition from her parents. Ashmin said that she anticipates threats from students, if she wears headscarf inside the classes at SVS College again. “I am not scared to go to SVS College again. However, my parents insist that I should not to go to that college,” she said.

Ashmin was not able to attend classes at SVS College since August 7, as the principal had denied her entry into classroom for wearing headscarf.
