“Within two days, water problems would be solved in city ensuring adequate supply of drinking water,” said Medical Education and district in charge minister S A Ramdas.

Addressing press persons at Government Guest House here on Friday, he said, task force is formed to work for a period of two months. It will hold meeting every day at 7pm and discuss about problems and measures to be taken to solve them.

“Officials have to attend the calls on their mobiles phones and respond to water problems, on failure of which action would be taken against them,” he said.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has released special grant of Rs one crore to manage drinking water problems. It would be asked from MLAs of all three constituencies to release Rs 30 lakh each from their funds, which would be used for new bore wells and repair old ones, he said.

“After another four days I will personally interact with people regarding drinking water problems in the presence of Task Force officials. Within that it would be seen that there are no complaints about drinking water supply. Shortly time table of timings of water supply to wards would be published,” Ramdas said.

Criminal Case

Criminal case would be filed against those who are found stealing water directly from Vani Vilas pipeline through motors. Officials are instructed to keep an eye on such issues, he added.

Kabini water in July

Project of supplying of drinking water to city from Kabini Dam would be completed in June and supply would start from July. Since farmers had been to court for relief, the project was delayed. From next year there would be no problem of drinking water in city, he said. With no adjustments between Jusco and Vani Vilas Water Supply Board, confusions existed in supplying water. Amidst the fight of these two, there was disruption in water supply.

“Jusco will not be allowed to go out of city without completing their work,” he said.“Water was supplied when there was water level of 67 feet in KRS. Now water level is 95 feet and thus there would be no problem in supplying water,” he added.

Ambedkar Bhavan

Ramdas said, Ambedkar Bhavan would be built in city with an estimated cost of Rs 14.66 crore. Tender to build Ambedkar Bhavan would be called on April 16. It would be turned into a tourist centre rather than a commercial complex. A documentary on Ambedkar’s life and struggle would be made. Thus it would also be a educative centre. Bhavan would be built according to culture and heritage of Mysore with 2500 seating facility.

Mayor Pushpalatha T B Chikkanna, deputy mayor M J Ravikumar, Corporation commissioner K S Raykar, MUDA chairman L Nagendra and commissioner C G Betsurmath were present.
