Brilliance of Seas in M'lore

M V Brilliance of the Seas called at Mangalore Port on Thursday. According to a press release, the cruise had 1938 passengers and 863 crew on board.  This is her repeated call to NMP after the first call on April 1. 

This giant luxury cruise vessel with a length(LOA) of 294 mtrs has been handled at Berth No14 .

Around 1650 passengers have gone around Mangalore in a/c buses arranged by the local tour operators and visited various places like cashew processing Units, old temples, jain basadi, Aloysius Chappel,  Artisan Heritage Village- Piikula, City Malls, etc. 

The vessel sailed to Goa in the evening.
NMPT Chairman  Dr P Tamilvanan said that this is the third Cruise vessel calling at the Port during the beginning of the current financial year 2012-13.  Around 4,000 passengers have so far arrived in these three vessels.  

The feedback from the Captain and Owners of the vessel is very good and they are interested to visit the Port again.  M/s J M Baxi & Co are the agents of the vessel.

In another development, NMPT witnessed a record handling of four rakes in a day on April 10, with an average  turn round time of  three hours on par with mechanised rail handling system. The first container rake from Mangalore to Bangalore commenced operation by Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) will further boost the growth of container traffic at the Port.  The first rake from Bangalore to Mangalore commenced on December 17, 2011.
