Grow crops that require little water, says DC

Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena has ordered the farmers to cultivate crops that require minimal water in order to cope up with the temporary drinking water crisis in the district.

Speaking to sugarcane growers during his visit to Hebbani and Mushturu villages, recently has advised the farmers to stop cultivating crops that require more water till onset of monsoon.

He also interacted with tamarind cleaning workers and discussed about their wages. Meena assured to solve the drinking water crisis by supplying water through private borewells. He sought the co-operation of the farmers to solve water crisis.

Due to the illegal sand mining in the surrounding areas, the fertility of the soil has reduced and the land has become barren, Deputy Commissioner said.

Chief Secretary of State Kisan Sabha M Gopal, former ZP member Rajgopal and others were with him.
