<p>JD(S) national executive member M Mahadevu urged the government to announce a special package to tackle drought situation in Chamarajanagar.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Addressing a news conference here recently, he said the general public and cattle are suffering due to scarcity of water and fodder.<br /><br />He alleged that the officials of revenue and animal husbandry departments were whiling away time sitting in offices instead of taking any steps. Officials, including the deputy commissioner have failed to take measures to prevent the situation. The chief minister should immediately transfer all erring officers, he stated.<br /><br />The district administration has failed miserably in providing drinking water and fodder and the district in-charge minister too has turned a blind eye to the issue, he blamed. He pointed out, the recent death of cattle died due to scarcity of water and fodder.<br /><br />“Irregularities reign NREGS. Works are not being taken up properly. There are incidents where job cards are not being issued. The government’s negligence towards the issue has affected the district badly,” he claimed.<br /><br />Pointing out that the officials of animal husbandry department of did not have information on the amount of fodder required, he said it was not possible to solve the situation by discussing the statistics in offices. <br /><br />The BJP government, including the CM, is busy saving power and does not have time to solve public issues.<br /><br />Former MLA S Balraj, M Panchakshari, Mangala Shivakumar, C Veeresh and others were present.</p>
