Drinking of contaminated water led to the death of one person and 29 others complained of diarrhoea in Veeregowdanahalli in Pandavapur taluk on Saturday.
Sakamma (60) of Veeregowdanahalli died at the Epidemic Diseases Hospital in Mysore where she was admitted while a boy and a woman are undergoing treatment at the same hospital. Four others are undergoing treatment at the General Hospital and twenty-three others have availed treatment from local doctors.
Due to heavy rain on Thursday evening contaminated water got mixed with the drinking water pipe.
Twenty-one persons complained of severe vomitting on Friday and nine others on Saturday.
They were treated initially at the General Hospital at Pandavapura and some were sent to Epidemic Diseases Hospital in Mysore for further treatment.
An emergency clinic has been opened at the Veeregowdanahalli school premises by the Health Department.
The contaminated areas have been disinfected.
