It may have come to an end this weekend but the excitement has not died down. The cricket fans are eagerly awaiting the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is slated to begin soon. They say they are all set for a season filled with cheergirls and celebrities. The summer vacations are rolling in and the IPL, they say, couldn’t have found a better time to start. ‘Metrolife’ spoke to a few people who fear that their favourite players may face a burnout since they hardly have time to recoup.

Nevertheless, the fans are all excited about the IPL and keeping their faith in their favourite teams. They are sure that their idols will give their best shot.

“The excitement is a lot more during IPL as compared to the World Cup. One of the main reasons why I enjoy the IPL are the timings. It’s a three-hour match, that’s held at a convenient time and no one would have to bunk work or office to watch it. With many matches being held in the City, my friends and I are planning to go and watch the match live.”.”

“I am waiting for the IPL to start because I feel there is a whole new excitement attached to it. Be it the actors, cheer girls or the entire glamour element, the IPL has surely found a special place among cricket fans. The gap between the IPL and the World Cup is indeed short but I feel in a country like ours, one can never get bored of watching cricket. I think that some of the cricketers may face a burnout after playing throughout the month and now they have to play for the IPL as well but I am sure the support from the crowd will energise them.”

“The World Cup experience is very different from that of the IPL. I enjoy both formats of cricket but what’s really nice is that I won’t be feeling low after the World Cup because IPL starts pretty soon. I feel bad for the players because they hardly have any time to recoup after the World Cup and I am sure they will be stressed out during the IPL matches.”

“Vacations have just started and there couldn’t have been a better time for the IPL to start. So far, we saw different countries battle it out for the World Cup and now it will be great to see a blend of international and national level cricketers playing together. I feel bad for the Indian team because they have been playing continuously and need a break before the start of the IPL.

Nevertheless, I have faith that they will not let the quality of the game suffer.”

“After such an exciting World Cup, the Indian Premier League will be the cherry on top of the cake for many cricket fans. I think the experiences the cricketers gathered during the World Cup will be incorporated during the IPL. The players in the Indian
and Sri Lankan team would probably be more stressed out compared to the others
players in other teams who finished earlier.”

“After such an amazing season of the World Cup, who wouldn’t want to see the World Champions play again?

I am glad that IPL is starting soon as we will get to see more of the Indian team on the field again.

The IPL, I feel is a wonderful way of getting both international cricketers and young talent together. There is not much of ‘preparations’ as such. I guess we are all only looking forward to some more exciting matches like what we saw during the World Cup.”
