JOIN USA police constable shot himself dead with his service weapon inside the premises of Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Constable Surender, 26, posted as a security guard at Haryana Bhawan a month ago, took the extreme step as he was depressed due to some family problem. Surender was posted at check post number four inside Haryana Bhawan, barely three meters away from the Bhawan’s dispensary.
“We received a call from Haryana Bhawan at 1:30 pm on Wednesday saying a Haryana police constable has shot himself with his self loading rifle inside the premises. A police control room van rushed there and we found the constable dead on the spot,” said the officer. His body was later taken to Lady Hardinge Hospital for autopsy. His family at Guskhani village was informed about it.
The constable had returned from home on April 30 after taking a day off. “According to his colleagues, he was under depression after his return from home. They often spotted him talking on his mobile phone and suspected that something was probably wrong in his family life. When he shot himself, he was talking to somebody over the phone,” said a senior security official at Haryana Bhawan.
He joined the service in 2008 and was a constable with the armed police in Madhuban. His seniors in Madhuban were also informed about the suicide and they visited the spot, the official added.
