<p>The Congress has alleged that BJP MP Venkaiah Naidu and Independent MP Rajeev Chandrashekar portrayed a wrong picture of the drought in Karnataka, in Parliament on Tuesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Congress leader B K Chandrashekar said the MPs have said that there was severe shortage of fodder in the State. <br /><br />However in an all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, the participants were told that the fodder stock in the State would last till September.<br /><br />“The MPs should have an elementary knowledge about the issues they raise in the Parliament. <br /><br />The ruling BJP notified drought-hit taluks in last October, but did not take action to ensure equitable distribution of water. <br /><br />To cover up for the government’s lapses, Naidu has blamed the Centre for not releasing funds to tackle drought,” Prof Chandrashekar said.<br /><br />The Congress leader said the Centre has to sanction funds only for meeting crop losses. <br /><br />Though the State has put the crop loss at Rs 5,000 crore, there is no legal provision to completely meet the loss but only relief can be given, he added.</p>
