2-day Krishi utsav in Katpadi from May 19

Zilla Panchayat in association with District Agriculture Department, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Programme and Krishika Samaja will be organising two day “Krishi Utsav” at Nehru Maidan in Katpadi from May 19 and May 20.

Speaking to media persons, Zilla Panchayat President Katpadi Shankar Poojary said the two-day Krishi Utsav will be inaugurated by Minister for Agriculture Umesh Katti.

Agriculture equipment expo will be inaugurated by Chairman of Task Force for the Implementation of Third Finance Commission Report A G Kodgi. Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon will preside, he added.

As many as 25,000 to 30,000 people are expected to attend the two-day agricultural festival. Seminars will be held on diverse topics concerning agriculture and talks by resources persons will be held on the occasion. Farmers will be given information on dairy farming, organic farming, fishing, horticulture and women oriented agricultural activities.

Exhibition on livestock and horticulture growths, dog show, rural games and cultural programmes will be added attraction on the occasion. Cultural procession too have been organised prior to the Utsav, Poojary added.

Demonstrations on modern agricultural equipment will be part of the two-day Utsav. Short films on rural development, health, sanitation will be screened. Yakshagana shows will also be staged on the occasion.
