Two youths die at government home

Two youths staying at a government home for mentally and physically challenged organisation – Asha Kiran – under the department of social welfare died in last 10 days in mysterious circumstances, police said.

Akash alias Shiva, 26 and Shyam, 25  lived at the government home at Avantika in Rohini. “Akash was a tuberculosis patient. He was undergoing treatment at Rajan Babu TB Hospital since April 25. He died of the illness on May 6.

An inquiry is being conducted by metropolitan magistrate Viashal Singh. The report of the post-mortem conducted by the medical board is still awaited,” said a police official.
Shyam, who had a history of cardiac arrest was admitted to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital on May 8 and was undergoing treatment. He died on May 10.

“We are told that he had cardiac disorder. Metropolitan magistrate Sidhdharth Mathur conducted an inquiry to know the exact cause of his death under section 176 Code of Criminal Procedure,” said the officer.

Police said they were waiting for an autopsy report to know the exact cause of the death. “We have formed a special team to look into the matter,” said deputy commissioner of police (outer) B S Jaiswal.
