Beware of touts, IP University tells students

Last Updated 17 May 2012, 20:06 IST

To make the parents and students aware of the touts doing the rounds during the admission season, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has put up boards and banners in its vicinity.

“The MBA counselling session has started. For all courses, we have counselling sessions and a common entrance test (CET). We have received complaints from parents that touts have duped them by taking money in lakhs on the pretext of getting their child admitted,” said an official.

Large banners bearing slogans like ‘Beware of Touts’ and  ‘Admission is made purely on CET and merit’ have been put up inside and outside the campus at several locations.

“These banners have been displayed especially at canteen, information counters, counselling venues and the bank. This time verification of documents of qualified candidates is made separately to make the counselling foolproof and to ward off imposters. We have also beefed up security,” said the official.

Around 1.65 lakh candidates usually appear for CETs for nearly 20,000-odd seats for various programmes of the University every year.
