MAC art expo makes debut today

Mysore Art Centre (MAC) an artery of art created by a band of brave and brilliant artists, is organising a three-day group show of  paintings and sculptures will be open to public from May 19 to 21 at 555/T, First floor, above Kavitha Bakery, New Kantharaj Urs road, Kuvempunagar, (near Shri Raghavendra Krupa Mandira).

The show will open on May 19 at 3 pm and on May 20 and 21 it will be open from 10.30 am to 8 pm.

This is MAC’s debut show and featured artists are closely associated with this centre  in all respects.  The artists who are participating in this exhibition are  Ashok Nayak, Harish Bhimaiah, Dwarakanath, Gururaj Nayak, N S Harsha, BL Mahesh, M D Raviraj, Vijaykumar C S and H S Vinay, according to a press release from MAC.   

“The art show venue was one of our artist’s work place, where group discussions, talks and get-togethers took place for more than four years. With this recollection and before leaving this place, we thought of organising an art exhibition of ‘Paintings and Sculptures’ under the banner of MAC,” said the artists in the release.

Contemporary artists in Mysore are known for being outgoing and proactive. They adopt a critical approach to history by engaging actively with the art audience.

Their artworks often reflect on or respond to social or cultural issues, trying to create a dialogue between contemporary art and the society, said the release.
