JOIN USJD(S) leader and MLC Puttanna has called South West Graduates’ constituency BJP candidate D H Shankarmurthy as an ‘incapable’ candidate.
Addressing a news conference on Monday in Mangalore Puttanna said that after being a MLC for fourth term and also adorning the posts of Education Minister and Legislative Council Chairman, the achievements and contribution of D H Shankarmurthy have been zero.
“During the last 24 years, he has not contributed even a bit for the welfare of the graduates’ constituency. He must introspect his work before aspiring to represent the constituency for fifth time,” Puttanna said while campaigning for JD(S) candidates for graduates’ constituency S L Bhojegowda and teachers’ constituency Panchaksharaiah.
Puttanna said that D H Shankarmurthy has been conveniently claiming credit for various colleges and educational institutions started during H D Kumaraswamy’s tenure.
He said that 156 degree colleges, 1,045 high schools, 625 pre university colleges, six medical colleges and several other institutions were started by Kumaraswamy when he was the chief minister but D H Shankarmurthy is claiming credit for all of these.
“When the teachers demanded for Rs 500 exgratia, it was Shankarmurthy who refused to introduce it but Kumaraswamy had recognised the same even before the teachers could submit a demand for the same,” he said.
Taking on BJP’s candidate for teachers’ constituency Capt Ganesh Karnik, he said that Karnik believes in creating confusion rather than solving problems.
Postpone exam
Demanding further postponement of the direct recruitment examination for the post of PU lecturers, Puttanna said that the examinations will coincide with the polling date.
Though the examination has been postponed by a day or two, it must be postponed by 15 days for the convenience of the aspirants.
