A fight to finish the burger

Herbs and Spice’, the authentic European restaurant at Indira Nagar, had organised ‘The final Asian contest of the 2012’ eating season recently. The competition was organised by WLOCE (World League of Competitive Eating), which is known for having  175 professional eating championships around the world.

This was the fourth and the last championship held in India.Ten participants competed against each other in eating a mammoth burger of around two kg.The competition witnessed the participants fighting it hard to finish the monster burger in ‘who eats the fastest’ category.

Dale Boone, originally from Atlanta, US, became the undisputed winner. He finished the burger in 18 minutes. Abhishek M B and Akash Ravi from Bangalore claimed the titles of the first and second runner-up respectively.   Abhishek finished it in 21 minutes while Akash claimed the title of second runner-up by completing it in 24 minutes. The winner received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 while the runners-up took away the cash prizes of Rs 5000 and Rs 2500.

According to Manjit Singh, owner and the master chef at ‘Herbs and Spice’, “the competition was an initiative to kick off the burger fest at the restaurant.”
