There are many students who wish to pursue their higher education abroad but unfortunately, this isn’t a smooth or easy process in the least.

Students always have doubts pertaining to their application forms, personal essays and the all-important issue — financial aid. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to get in touch with foreign universities which is why students have to depend on the advice of a middleman.

It was to combat this problem that The Chopras, a college counselling organisation, recently organised what they called a ‘Global Education Interact’. The purpose of this interact was simple — it enabled students to clear their doubts regarding where and how to apply abroad. Representatives from over sixty universities from seven different countries flew down to Bangalore, specially to interact with the students. These universities are spread across the USA, UK, Germany and Singapore.

Interested students could simply step in, fill in a registration form and then wait in line to meet the representatives from their university. These representatives spoke to the students on a variety of subjects, including their career aspirations, the right college and the right course from them.

Sahil, one of the students who had come to the interact, said that it was a useful opportunity for students. Many of the participants hadn’t narrowed down on the university of their choice but Sahil had obviously given this decision a lot of thought. “I was keen on meeting representatives from the University of Manchester and the University of Bristol. The session was very useful — I’ve come such an event before, and thought that this one was far better,” said the engineering student, adding, “The sessions with the university representatives are very interactive and informative.

They included plenty of advice on issues like accommodation at a foreign university, scholarship and the right kind of course to go for. People can probably get this sort of information by spending a lot of time researching on the internet but here, it was all available on the spot.”
