The gruelling heat wave that started in Uttar Pradesh a week ago shows no sign of abating with the mercury expected to touch 45 degree Celsius at many places in the state on Tuesday.

The weather office predicted warm winds making the day even more scorching.

Power outages in many parts of the state have added to the misery of the people.

Unmanageable

Power department officials said they were adhering to the schedule issued by the state government and conceded that the power scene was grim and unmanageable.

The minimum temperature in many parts of the state, including the state capital, also inched up and touched 23.3 degrees, which is a notch higher than the normal, a met official said.

According to the met office, most cities in the state will witness a steep rise in temperatures this week, with the sun making life tough in places like Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Unnao, Allahabad, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Orai, Etawah, Mainpuri and Mirzapur.
