Chairing separate meetings to discuss the implementation of Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (Prevention) Act and Human Trafficking and the Child Protection Compact Act here on Monday, he appealed the officials for more efficiency in the execution of these legislations.
He directed the Women and Child Welfare Department to strive for quick justice for women either with the help of the police or the law court.

Speaking on the occasion, Women and Child Welfare Department Deputy Director Shehar Banu said the officials personally visit the places from where such incidents are reported, collect details and help the women to approach police or the court. Addressing a separate meeting on Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (Prevention) Act, the DC said a series of awareness campaigns should be conducted to create awareness against the ill-effects of narcotics on human life.

He asked the officials to implement such programmes at hobli levels through Sthree Shakti groups. He also asked them to prepare an estimate in this regard.
Zilla Panchayat Social Justice Standing Committee President S N Rajarao said one can pool funds to organise awareness programmes but it is more important to organise them in an effective manner.

ZP Chief Executive Officer Mirza Akbarullah said the results of the awareness programmes and camps are more important than providing mere statistics.

Somwarpet taluk Sthree Shakti Okkuta Vice President Ghahana said she has doubts that some small shops in taluk and hobli centres are dealing with narcotics and police should confirm this by inspections. She said youngsters can be prevented from getting addicted to drugs by conducting parents’ meetings at education institutions regularly.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the CDPOs in different taluks to inspect the status of the old age homes, orphanages and home for the disabled in their respective taluks. He asked them to recommend cancellation of grants if the ashrams were not maintained well.

Additional DC Chandre Gowda among others were present on the occasion.
