Newly constituted PAC meet on June 1

The newly constituted Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament will hold its first meeting on June 1 to decide on the agenda for  its one-year term.

The 22-member Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) headed by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi will also consider controversial Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports, which were deliberated by the previous committee but could not be completed and tabled before both the Houses of Parliament.

As per the PAC rules, the unfinished work is taken up by the succeeding panel at the stage where it was left.

The controversial CAG reports exposed several scams of the UPA government, including the one related to KG basin involving Reliance Industries, Common Wealth Games 2010, Adarsh Housing Society and pulses import irregularities.
