<p>A 28-year-old American national has been arrested from Indira Gandhi International Airport for carrying 23 live cartridges in his check-in baggage, police said on Sunday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Jeffry Jinnin Worn, a resident of Lowndes county in Georgia, had arrived in Delhi on a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight and was scheduled to board a Turkish Airlines connecting flight to Istanbul when he was held on Saturday morning.<br /><br />“The DIAL Baggage Screening Unit at airport’s Terminal 3 had detected some suspicious item during screening of one of the registered baggages. Airport officials later confirmed that the bag belonged to Jeffry,” a senior police official said.<br /><br />When the officials later opened it in his presence, they recovered 23 live cartridges and ‘Hornady 45 Auto+P’ was written on them. <br /><br />Police confirmed that Jeffry had neither declared at the airline’s check-in counter that he was possessing cartridges in his check-in luggage nor could he produce any valid documents which would explain their presence in his luggage.<br /><br />“The passenger accepted that he brought the cartridges from the United States. However, he was not holding valid license for the same,” the official added. <br /><br />He was arrested and a case was registered at IGI Airport police station under section 25 of the Arms Act.<br /></p>
