JD(S) to name candidate today

The JD(S) is likely to announce its candidate for Legislative Council elections scheduled for June 11, on Tuesday.

The JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy held a meeting with the party MLAs and elicited their opinion on selecting the candidate. With 26 MLAs, the party can bag one seat out of the total 11.

Names of the party worker Aga Khan of Ramanagar and Surayanarayana Reddy of Bellary, former MP C Narayanaswamy and Abdul Azim are making rounds as the probable candidates. Kumaraswamy is likely to hold a meeting with the party chief H D Deve Gowda before finalising the candidate, sources said.
